Winemaking notes
Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery has been a Sonoma winemaking tradition since 1904 when Samuele Sebastiani immigrated to California from Italy and created the winery. Located in the heart of Sonoma wine country, Sebastiani offers a historic winery with a hospitality center, antique redwood tanks, daily historical tours and tastings and great wines. In addition to its value-oriented North Coast tier, Sebastiani has earned acclaim and praise for flagship Cherryblock wine and sub-appellations (Sonoma Valley, Alexander Valley, Carneros, and Russian River Valley). Utilizing grapes from a variety of premier growing sites in Sonoma County creates approachable wines reflective of the appellation.
Viticultural notes
Since Bill Foley’s purchase of Sebastiani in 2008, the winemaking team has taken a number of steps to produce world-class wines that showcase the great terroir and versatility of Sonoma County. One of the first things done under Foley’s direction was to decrease production, allowing for focused winemaking efforts on exceptional vineyard sites.
Tasting notes
Medium to deep ruby, the Cabernet Sauvignon Cherryblock Vineyard is intensely scented of cassis, baked black plum, blueberry coulis and red cherry preserves with touches of allspice, incense, cedar, dried leaves and warm earth plus a streak of graphite. The palate is medium to full-bodied with still youthfully wound fruit, a firm, grainy texture and juicy freshness to lift the long finish.
