Winemaking notes
Sogrape Vinhos is a family company with international vision, focused on innovation, the production of wines of quality, and developing Portuguese brands on a global scale.
Viticultural notes
Grapes of the required ripeness and acidity are selected in the Douro region. After gentle destemming and crushing, the grape must is transferred to stainless steel tanks for skin maceration and alcoholic fermentation. During this phase, maceration is intense, the must being pumped over and the temperature not exceeding 25ºC in order to preserve grape aromas. Once maceration is deemed complete - determined tank by tank, the moment varying from year to year and variety to variety - the wine is separated from the solids, press wine being kept apart from the free-run wine. Malolactic fermentation is induced in appropriately controlled conditions of hygiene and temperature.
Tasting notes
Vila Regia Red is ruby-red in colour. The aroma is intense, reminiscent predominantly of ripe red fruits such as cherries and raspberries, along with a gentle balsamic touch - resin and cigar box - and spices, including pepper or
nutmeg. On the palate it is quite full bodied, with flavours of red fruits and a harmonious finish.
Pairing notes
Ideal with game dishes, fish and not-too-spicy pasta dishes.
