Viticultural notes
Duque de Viseu Red is an elegant wine, rich and appealing. For well over a decade it has ranked amongst the Dão region's star wines. Duque de Viseu is made at Quinta dos Carvalhais, the Sogrape project that led the revival of Dão wines. Today, Quinta dos Carvalhais is Sogrape's specialist Dão brand, with a range of high-quality, distinctive wines that exemplifies the region's elegance and diversity.
Tasting notes
The wine has a deep ruby red colour. The nose shows aromas of strawberries, blackberries and ripe raspberries, balsamic and forestry nuances and slight plant notes that give freshness and complexity to the whole. The wine is soft and smooth on the palate with great freshness provided by the acidity and minty aroma. The tannins give structure and personality to this wine, which in its average volume is balanced, harmonious and gastronomic.
Pairing notes
Excellent with meat dishes, game, all types of poultry and cheeses. It is a very versatile wine, combining as well with grilled octopus with baked jacket potatoes as it does with stewed veal with fries.
