Winemaking notes
While we regularly sample all our Michter's barrels to see how our whisky is aging, we pay even extra special attention to our barrels once they are over 17 years old. At Michter's we consider 17-20 years the "Fork in the Road" when certain barrels can achieve an extraordinary level of quality. It is these barrels that our master distiller Dan McKee personally selects for our very limited bottling of 20 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon.
Viticultural notes
The 10-Year Rye, 10-Year Bourbon and 20-Year Bourbon expressions reflect the exceptional results of uncompromising craftsmanship and Kentucky’s unrivaled climate for aging outstanding whiskey. Often significantly older than the age statement on the label, only a select few barrels age with the elegance required for inclusion in these highly limited releases. 114.2 Proof - 57.1% ABV
Tasting notes
Intense notes of black cherry, rich molasses, honeysuckle, roasted pecans, toasted charred oak. 96.5 Points, Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible "Amazing...when people ask me why I think that bourbon has the edge over Scotch at the moment, perhaps I should point them in the direction of a bottling like this to give them some understanding as to why. One of the best 20+ year old bourbons I have ever encountered.”
