Winemaking notes
Born from a single walled vineyard and a single grape variety in a single year, Krug Clos du Mesnil is crafted exclusively from Chardonnay grown within the legendary 1.84-hectare Clos du Mesnil. Each plot is vinified separately in small oak casks, allowing the House to reveal the vineyard's singular voice with remarkable precision.
Viticultural notes
Hidden behind ancient walls in the heart of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, the Clos du Mesnil vineyard spans just 1.84 hectares. Its chalk-rich soils and exceptional exposure allow Chardonnay to express extraordinary purity, elegance and tension, creating one of Champagne's most iconic terroir expressions.
Tasting notes
Krug Clos du Mesnil 2009 opens with aromas of ripe citrus, candied lemon, white flowers and orchard fruits, layered with hints of marzipan, toasted brioche and ginger. The palate is generous yet precise, revealing remarkable freshness, elegant minerality and an exceptionally long, luminous finish.
Pairing notes
Serve between 10–12°C in a large tulip-shaped glass to fully reveal its complexity. Allow the wine a few moments to breathe before tasting. Pair with delicate dishes such as shellfish, caviar or simply enjoy it on its own, allowing every nuance to unfold.
