Winemaking notes
Emblematic icon of the House, Hennessy X.O is the Original, remained unchanged since its creation. In 1870, Maurice Hennessy created a new style of cognac for his family and friends. He gave it the name X.O for “extra old”. It was a turning point in history of Cognac, the creation of a new reference. In 1947, Hennessy X.O was the first among Cognac Maisons to design a dedicated decanter. Ageing in young French oak barrels, which have previously held between 2 and 4 eaux-de-vie. Blending of almost 100 eaux-de vies.
Tasting notes
Hennessy X.O flavours of candied fruit and its subtle and lightly spicy nose create a complete harmony: a mark of its roundness. To taste, a smooth, full sensation gives a simultaneously powerful and soft tonality with a hint of cocoa and a warm fruity presence. The long finish expresses all the complexity of the cognac’s blending and its long aging process.
