Winemaking notes
Crafted on Islay, Ardbeg Spectacular is matured in a unique combination of ex-bourbon casks and rare port wine casks. This distinctive maturation brings together Ardbeg’s signature peat smoke with a surprising layer of sweetness and complexity.
Viticultural notes
Though not a wine, its character reflects its terroir. Produced on Islay, it is shaped by coastal elements and peat-rich soils. The local peat, used to dry the barley, imparts its signature smoky depth, while the cask influence adds a unique dimension.
Tasting notes
The nose opens with rich smoke, balanced by red fruits and hints of caramel. On the palate, it’s bold yet playful, revealing notes of dark berries, toffee, smoked spices, and a touch of chocolate. The finish is long, vibrant, and smoky with a sweet, fruity twist.
Pairing notes
Best enjoyed neat to explore its contrast of smoke and sweetness. A few drops of water can enhance its fruity and layered profile. Serve at room temperature in a whisky glass and allow it to evolve in the glass.
