Heavy Vapours

Crafted on Islay, Ardbeg Heavy Vapours is distilled without the purifier normally used in Ardbeg’s stills. Matured in ex-bourbon casks, this process creates a heavier, more intense spirit, emphasizing bold peat smoke and untamed character.

Though not a wine, its identity is rooted in terroir. Produced on Islay, it reflects the island’s rugged coast and peat-rich soils. The local peat, used to dry the barley, gives the whisky its signature smoky depth and earthy intensity.

The nose is dense and smoky, with notes of coal dust, dark chocolate, and spice. On the palate, it’s powerful and oily, revealing tar, anise, roasted coffee, and bitter cocoa. The finish is long, robust, and deeply smoky with a savory edge.

Best enjoyed neat to fully embrace its bold profile. A few drops of water can help open up the aromas and reveal more balance. Serve at room temperature in a whisky glass for a rich and immersive tasting experience.
